Publicity
Welcome to the Publicity page of the National Committee website - here you can find lots of advice and resources on how to help spread the word about the United World College movement.
Without the help of members of the United World College community in Great Britain we would never be able to reach out to so many potential applicants - it's by spreading the word about United World Colleges that we ensure the movement stays as exciting and vibrant as ever.
We don't want United World Colleges to be the best well kept secret in education, so we are working to reach an increasingly large number of students. This will ensure that we are able to find the UWC potential in the educational system, allowing young leaders to grow and develop. Every publicity effort also helps to raise awareness about UWC, which makes it easier to raise scholarship funds. Even the smallest contribution will make a difference.
Ambassadors

The UWC National Committee of Great Britain has now launched the Ambassadors Scheme to enable everyone to spread the word about UWC to the best of their ability. We hope that all students and parents join as UWC Ambassadors to fulfil the UWC goal of reaching the most diverse pool of applicants possible.
Ambassadors will receive information on how to help publicize the UWC experience and they will have the support of the publicity team at the National Committee. If you are looking for publicity materials for potential applicants please refer to the Inspire brochure.
To sign up now, send an email with your name and your relationship to UWC to Publicity@UWC.org.uk
Current Students

You are in a great position to reach others in your former school, your neighbourhood and beyond. You know what is like to be a UWC student right now and you can demonstrate your passion and enthusiasm to other students.
• Approach your local newspaper before you go to the College. You will find a Press Pack here.
• Think about the extraordinary things that you have done in your College or during your Project Week, and consider whether your local newspaper or another publication may be interested in them. To find out more about how you can do this, contact Press@UWC.org.uk
• Go back to your school. Reconnect with your teachers and ensure they know how other students can apply to UWC. Give a presentation to school students and tell them about your life at the college. You can find guidance about this in the Presenter Pack.
Graduates

There are several ways of giving back to UWC and one of them is ensuring that every potential applicant knows about it. Keep on talking about UWC to your friends, but make an effort to reach more young people.
• Keep on visiting your school, or other schools in your local area. Visits tend to be more successful on those schools without a sixth form. For a thorough Presenter Pack, click here. If you would like further information on schools in your local area please email Publicity@UWC.org.uk
• Engage with other UWC students while at university and work together to raise awareness about UWC. You can contact the UWC society at Oxford for help and tips at uwcsoc@herald.ox.ac.uk
• Use your contacts. Pass on information about applications, open days and scholarships. An email will be sent around with all of this information so that you can forward it to those who may be interested.
Parents

You can allow other young people to enjoy the opportunity that your child enjoyed for two years.
• Tell others about UWC. Pass on the information about applications, scholarships and open days. You will receive an email with all of this information at the relevant time.
• If you would like to give back to UWC by being more involved with publicity, email us at Publicity@UWC.org.uk to find out more about other ways to contribute.

This pack will help you to give a presentation at a school, youth or community group. It contains a PowerPoint presentation, UWC documents and advice on how to give the presentation.
The Press Pack is designed to help new students to get a story in their local newspaper. It contains a press release that you can personalise and lots of information about the colleges that journalists might find interesting.
This is a document from UWC International. It is, as the name suggests, inspiring and will (we hope) convince anyone to apply for a place at a United World College.
This is a quick guide to the colleges, showing a bit about them and the student experiences of living and learning there. It is a good way to quickly introduce people to the international nature of the movement.
The UWC in-house publication, United World contains lots of news and information from all of the colleges as well as the International Board and Office.
