Applications 2011 are open!
Applications for places at UWC schools and colleges through UWC Great Britain have opened for entry in 2011. Just click on the 'Apply' tab and find out all you need to know about applying for a place at a UWC through the Great British National Committee. Please note that the deadline for applications this year is January 14th 2011, which is earlier than in previous years. We have also changed our application form, eligibility criteria and expanded our FAQs for applicants, parents and referees - so do read through our Application Pages carefully. It is really important to take time over your application form as it allows us to decide who to invite to interviews. So download an application today, read all the guidance on the website, and start your journey towards attending a UWC now!
Aldbourne 10k race - support UWC Great Britain
This Sunday - 12th of September - the Aldbourne 10k race, in support of the UWC National Committee of Great Britain, takes place - it'll be a great opportunity to support the work of the National Committee. Atlantic College Open Day - 27th and 28th October
The Open Day will take place at Atlantic College in St Donat's Castle on the 27th and 28th of October with registration at 1.45pm. Presentations will include introductions by the Principal and the UWC National Committee of Great Britain, along with tours of the castle, campus and services taken by current Atlantic College students. It is an opportunity for those interested in studying at Atlantic College or at one of the other twelve United World Colleges to learn more about individual colleges and the movement. Registration of intention to attend is required. Orientation Weekend
Orientation weekend will take place on the 24th and 25th of July at Atlantic College! This will be a great opportunity for newly selected students and the parents to meet members of the National Committee and current UWC students who will be helping to prepare the new students for the UWC adventure they are about to embark on. Bike ride to Brighton
A team of graduates and friends cycling to raise money for international scholarships was joined by a team put together by Jane Caldwell from the UWC International office and Mario Konyen Joseph (a Mahindra graduate) who were raising money towards a scholarship for a Zimbabwean student to attend Mahindra UWC. UWC.org.uk has launched a series of forums and blogs on our website in order to provide more up-to-date information and news about our work, the application procedure and student profiles.
The GB Committee getting off the ground
Given that the first United World College, Atlantic College, was in Wales, you might think that the GB (Great Britain) National Committee would be one of the oldest Committees in the movement - but you'd be wrong. At merely four years old, the Committee is actually one of the youngest in the movement; until 2001 Atlantic College was responsible for selection within the UK.
