Applications for 2010 now closed!
Thanks to all who applied for a place at a UWC this year through the UWC National Committee of Great Britain. We were delighted to receive all of your applications and look forward to seeing many of you at interviews. If you did not get your application in this year or are not invited to interviews, please do consider applying again next year.
We will be holding interviews at the start of April at Atlantic College - a wonderful opportunity for us to meet many of the applicants and for them to get a taste of the UWC campus experience. Each year we are lucky to be able to offer approximately 45 places for British pupils to attend United World Colleges, via a competitive selection process. Approximately half of these places are for the internationally famous United World College of the Atlantic in Wales, and many successful applicants are offered places at one of the 12 other UWCs around the world.
There is no 'ideal' UWC student, but generally we will be looking for individuals who are due to sit GCSE, Scottish Standard or the first year of Higher levels this year (age 16/17), who have a good level of academic achievement, open-mindedness, an awareness of international issues, and preferably evidence of commitment to their local communities.
Liam Goodacre, Atlantic College 2004
"Attending Atlantic College has been one of the best experiences of my life, and has helped make me the person I am today. The college ideals succeed in inspiring students to take initiative in their surroundings, and have the courage to think and act positively".
If you did not get an application in for this year but would like to consider UWC as an option for next year, please find more information, including links to the individual colleges, on About Us.
